Madeleine L'Engle Remembered

Madeleine L’Engle, author of more than 60 books for adults and children, including A Wrinkle in Time and its sequels, passed away on September 6, at the age of 88. Here some of those who worked with her and were close to her pay tribute.

2007 Carnegie and Greenaway Medal Announced.
The Carnegie Medal is awarded by children's librarians for an outstanding book for children and young people.
The Kate Greenaway Medal is awarded by children's librarians for an outstanding book in terms of illustration for children and young people. In 2007 the CILIP Carnegie Medal celebrates its 70th Anniversary and the CILIP Kate Greenaway its 50th.

Al Roker's Book Club for Children

Al Roker (in partnership with Scholastic) is starting a children's book club on the Today Show. I saw the first episode yesterday and the book was Brian Selznick's The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Al interviewed the kids who read the book (they were very cute) and they also talked with Brian Selznick. Here is a link to a news story from the Book Standard.
